Accomplishments
-
This year Children’s Fund has helped more than 66,215 children in San Bernardino County, bringing the total served since its inception in 1986 to 1.6 million children.
-
Children’s Fund established an Emergency Needs Program, which provides at-risk children with items such as food, clothing, beds, rental and utility assistance, medical and dental care.
-
The Children’s Assessment Center was established in 1994 to reduce the trauma of child abuse victims by providing a one-stop center where they can tell their story once while receiving treatment from specially trained forensic pediatricians in a child-friendly setting. In 1999, Children's Fund provided funding for the service site. In response to the increasing need for services, the County has agreed to provide a larger building. Children's Fund, in partnership with numerous County Departments, First 5 - San Bernardino, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and other generous donors, has secured over $500,000 in funding for this much-needed expansion. In May of 2014 the Children's Assessment Center moved to its new expanded facility.
-
Annual Celebration of Giving Holiday Campaign - For over 30 years, Children’s Fund has coordinated a campaign to collect toys, clothing and books during the holiday season in order to brighten the holidays for underprivileged children in San Bernardino County. Partnering with San Bernardino County Fire, Spark of Love, and many other partners such as the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio, Arrowhead Credit Union, San Bernardino Public Works, and many more, Children's Fund is able to brighten the holidays for thousands of children in our local communities.
-
Throughout the year, Children's Fund collects backpacks filled with school supplies, winter coats to help children stay warm in the colder areas of our region, and hygiene products to provide for the basic needs for at-risk children.
-
Building partnerships is vital to Children’s Fund success in helping children. Living Spaces donated mattresses which we provide to families that may not have beds for each of their children.
-
After school programs, violence and gang intervention, and mentorship programs receive funding from Children’s Fund. There are many programs that Children’s Fund supports throughout the year, supplying thousands of children with much needed items.
-
The San Bernardino County Amber Alert System received support from the Children’s Fund, allowing local law enforcement to link into the national system and communicate child abductions more quickly and effectively.
-
Children’s Fund received a Philanthropic Partner of the Year Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The nomination came from Cal Poly Pomona for the partnership established with their Renaissance Scholars Program.
